If you invent something cool/marketable in OnShape Free anyone can find it, copy it, sell it, etc., and there's no opting out. My issue with OnShape is specific to their Free Plan and what it means that your documents are "Public." It's not only public like "anyone can view this online." It's public like "public domain":įor any Public Document owned by a Free Plan User. Watch a couple OnShape tutorials and you'll have few issues transitioning from Fusion 360. Thank you in advance!Īs a browser-based CAD program it's excellent. Have any of you guys ever had any experience with Onshape? I've had years and years of experience on Fusion, so I feel like I probably need to start over from zero and actually learn Onshape to take full advantage of it, but I want to heard any feedback you guys may have of it before I go and invest hours and hours trying to learn it only to end up going back to Fusion.Īny input is appreciated. Unfortunately, the FOSS CAD scene is pretty scarce, and honestly the only decent alternative I've found is Onshape, which I've actually never heard of. So long story short, I'm getting sick of Fusion 360's habit of requiring me to sign in and then taking an hour to finish an update before I can do anything at all, and on top of that I'm also trying to switch over to Linux as my only operating system, which does not support Fusion.įusion is great, and I would gladly pay for it if it was supported on Linux and wasn't so aggressive with its required updates, but sadly it's not, and I want to find an alternative.
